Overview

Squarespace is one of the most popular website builders and for good reason. While the template selection is rather small with just a few dozen possibilities, there are beautiful options for just about any website need from one-page landing pages to full-blown e-commerce websites. All templates are automatically responsive, making the process of going mobile seamless and pain-free. And with handy features like custom domains, unlimited bandwidth and storage, integrated website metrics, and with certain plans, integrated email services, Squarespace has quite a bit to offer.

The pricing scheme Squarespace has devised is simple and straightforward. Their introductory plan, which nets you a one-page website, is just $5/month. E-commerce plans start at $26/month, which includes some really incredible e-commerce tools that make it well worth the expense. Of course, you can start using Squarespace for free – just sign up, create an account, and start building! You can even export and download parts of your website if need be, but that feature is limited to fairly basic content like text, images, and galleries.

Once you create an account, you have access to a host of support tools that are among the industry’s best. Support staff is available 24/7 and help is usually provided within an hour of the request. For more run-of-the-mill problems, the Squarespace Help Center is a fantastic resource that users can access anytime. There is an extensive knowledge base with help guides, how-to video courses, and video workshops that guide users through each step of the website creation process. There is even live chat support on weekdays in case all else fails.

However, there are some aspects of Squarespace that fall short of what other website builders offer. The most glaring issue is that not all tools in the Squarespace editor are user-friendly or intuitive, especially for users that are new to website creation. Additionally, while the selection of editing tools is expansive, it can be somewhat overwhelming for the average user.
