Basekit Review

As I arrived on the basekit.com website home page there were a few things that really stuck out to me. The first thing was the fact that you would be able to view a free demo of the site and how it works. This is really nice because it will help you determine if you would like to attempt to use this site or not. I also noticed that you could view different templates and example websites that have been built with this site builder. I have explored other site builders that had these options as well as it makes it very nice to decide if you would like to use a site builder or not.

I decided that I wanted to be able to view the different templates that were available before I even signed up for my free trial. I found that there were a number of different templates that I could select from and these would include creating a wedding website, electrician websites or even toy websites. I was really impressed with the different template categories that were mentioned. I also found that once I selected a template I was going to be able to select a theme that would go the best with my template. They have over 100 different themes to select from and this was exciting as well. I was not really use to selecting a template and a theme.

I had one more thing to check out before I decided if I was ready to take on the free trial or not. This was the issue of pricing. We all know that even though a website builder may claim to be free, this is not the way that it remains all of the time. At one point in time or another, you are going to need to pay for the services that you are using. So, I went to the section of the website that was going to discuss the prices. Now, with the 14 day free trial I was going to be allowed to have 3 pages to my website. However, I could also select from plans that would cost anywhere from $10 to $40 each month depending on how many pages I wanted to create and how much storage space I was looking for as well. I also noticed that hosting and the number of domain names I was going to be able to have was going to vary depending on the different plan or package that I selected. All of this was laid out very nicely for me on the pricing page.

Now, you may be very interested in the free trial because it is going to give you the opportunity to test out the site. I know that I was alright with a free trial because I was able to see how things worked and I already had my own website. But, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind when it comes to the free trial. For example, you are not going to have hosting when the free trial is over and you will need to pay for a package in order to have this. It is also nice to know that you can transfer a domain name to this website builder or you can purchase a domain name from them.

With all of this in mind, I was ready to begin my free trial. Therefore, I clicked on the get started button under the packages. I then needed to enter my email address, a password and then I needed to re-enter my password. This page did state that I did not need my credit card in order to sign up for this free trial. Once I did that I was taken to the meat and potatoes part of the site. I was asked to select a template and then I could begin working on my site. I was able to review many different categories and styles to find the one that was going to be the best for me. I also noticed that they had personal website templates that I could use as well.

Here you can see the way that your page is going to look once you have created your free account. You will notice that you can filter the templates by categories. You will also notice that there is a way that you can obtain live online chat if you need it.

Once I had selected the template that I wanted I simply needed to enter into it and begin editing it to make it look the way that I wanted to. I found that I only needed to look at the page and double click in the text fields in order to be able to make changes to any of the text that was on the page. This was very easy and I was also able to do the same thing to the different images that were on the page if I wanted to change the dimensions of them or change them all together. I did need to remember that I was not going to be able to add any more pages to the site as I was only allowed to have 3 pages as I was working on a trial version. That is something that you will want to keep in mind as well.

When I was ready to obtain a domain name I only needed to go to the manage section of my website. Then I needed to click on domains. Once I did that I was able to search and see if the domain name I wanted was going to be available. I also noticed that I was given a subdomain for my trial version and this was listed on that page.

After you find a domain name that is going to fit your needs and your site you will need to determine how you are going to pay for it. There are some people that are not going to be happy when they find out that they are going to need to pay for a domain name. However, there are some benefits to doing that. First of all, you will look a lot more professional when you are trying to get your name out there and you want to promote your business. Next, you are going to find that you will have a much easier time being found on search engines when you have your own domain name rather than a subdomain. If you are not ready to create your own domain name and pay for it, and you want to publish your site with your subdomain while you still have a free trial then you are going to be able to do that as well.

Support is free and you can communicate through online chat or even email if you are not in need of immediate assistance. I have found that the website builders that offer online chat are the best and it does help to alleviate any stress that you might have as you design your site.

I was very happy with the free demo that this site builder showed on the home page. It was nice to know that I could try this out before going any further. It also helps you see how to go about editing your site so that you know what to do once you have started. It takes the guess work out of building your site.

The only thing that I did not like about this site builder was that you were not able to establish an ecommerce site with the basic package or the free trial. I was really impressed with everything else this site had to offer.

Of course this site builder is flash compatible. You will even see on your website page how you can edit your media and change any photos. This was shown above in a screen shot. It is not going to be difficult to do and you will see that it adds a great deal of pizazz to your site.

I really liked this site builder and the templates were wonderful. I was pleased that I was going to have access to many features, even with the free trial. It was a great site for a beginner and the prices were reasonable and comparable to other site builders. Overall Basekit sets high standards and is a true alternative to the domination of SquareSpace in the world of HTML5 website builders. I would recommend anyone to use it.
